The Kent Law Campaign Student Group held their first big-scale event, 5km Fun Run, on the 3rd of November, 2013.
Over 100 people joining the event, the runners followed the 5km route along the campus in the name of ‘Race for Justice’. The race was started by his honour Judge Nigel Van der Bijl, the honorary recorder of Canterbury. At the end of the event Ross Braden and Melissa Spurling were awarded for the first male and the first female to finish the race.
This event was also supported by some amazing fellow societies from the University of Kent. While the registration and preparation were going on, members of the Magic Society were present to entertain our runners and volunteers. Their fabulous tricks definitely helped to bring a rather relaxing and calm atmosphere. During the run, the Pirate Society members were chasing after our runners and motivated them to finish the race – everyone loved them! After the race finished, the amazing Taekwondo Society had a demonstration session and captured everyone’s eyes.
Our very own Chair, Emily, said “I am so proud of what the student committee has achieved for our first big fundraising event. We always knew it was going to be a challenge but I’m so pleased that we were able to work together with the Campaigns Office and volunteers to produce a truly memorable day. We’ve had great feedback from everyone involved and hope to repeat the success next year to raise more money for such a worthwhile cause.”
Thanks to everyone’s support, the Kent Law Campaign Student Group was able to raise over £3,000 for the Campaign.
